CARES Act Emergency Financial Aid Grants to ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ College Students Fund Reporting

  1. ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ College has signed and returned to the Department of Education (DOE) the Certification and Agreement. ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ will use no less than 50% of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
  2. ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ will receive $602,973 from the Department of Education pursuant to our Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
  3. ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½â€™ distribution of Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act has occurred as follows:
    As of 05/28/20, ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ had distributed $529,500. As of 07/10/20, ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ had distributed $533,000. As of 08/24/20, ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ had distributed $533,000. As of 12/31/20, ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ had distributed $535,500. As of 3/31/21, ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ had distributed $602,973.
  4. ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ College has an estimated 1311 confirmed students eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
  5. Number of students receiving Emergency Financial Aid Grants under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act. As of 5/28/20, 636 students had received funds. As of 07/10/20, 646 students had received funds. As of 08/24/20, 646 students had received funds. As of 12/31/20, 645 students had received funds. As of 3/31/21, in the first quarter of 2021 (1/1/21-3/31/21), 228 Pell-eligible students received funds (this number is not unduplicative of previous recipients).
  6. Eligibility is determined of Title IV eligible students enrolled in spring 2020 who have completed 2019-20 FAFSA and meet one of these three criteria:
    • Criteria One: Undergraduate students with an EFC less than or equal to $14,000 will receive $1000.  This EFC represents the neediest 20% of the student body.
    • Criteria Two: Students who worked in a student employment program (Federal Student Employment (FWS), ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ Student Employment (CCE), Resident Assistants (RA) and/or ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ Student Associates (RSA) whose work was interrupted, lessened or suspended due to the closing of campus who do not meet the first criteria but have EFCs less than $50,000 will receive $500.
    • Criteria Three: Enrolled students not meeting Criteria One or Two must apply by completing an application. The application will then be reviewed by the CARESAct Review Committee for approval or denial. Students must provide explanations of expenses associated with a student’s cost of attendance related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19 such as (food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care expenses.)
  7. Students receiving emergency funds  are advised it is a statutory requirement that funds awarded from CARES be used to cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus (including but not limited to eligible expenses under a student’s cost of attendance, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and/or child care). CARES funds will not have any impact on other financial aid the student may be eligible to receive and will not need to be repaid.
